As exports of poultry and eggs grow, the economic impact goes well beyond the poultry industry. Soybean and corn farmers are among the biggest beneficiaries of increased exports. For example, did you know that one out of every six bushels of soybeans produced in the United States is consumed by the poultry industry? Poultry feed accounts for more than half of U.S. soybean usage.
Corn is also vital to the health and productivity of the poultry industry, with well over 12 percent of all U.S. corn used for poultry feed. And that ain't hay.
Over the last several years, USAPEEC has developed strategic alliances with soybean and grain organizations. These groups are well aware of the importance of the poultry industry to the health and well being of the soybean and corn industry in this country.
Several other commodity and farmer groups have joined with USAPEEC, including the American Egg Board, United Egg Producers, the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, the Iowa Farm Bureau, and the Illinois Farm Bureau.
