Iowa Economic Development Authority holds Mexico trade mission

March 7, 2022

The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) last week conducted a trade mission in Mexico that included two days of presentations from representatives of industries with relationships with the state, including the Mexican Pork and Beef Producers Associations, the Mexican Association of Poultry Producers, the Mexican Agricultural Council, USMEF, and USAPEEC. Juan Cortina, president of the Mexican Agricultural Council, and Luz Maria de la Mora from the Secretariat of Economy participated from the Mexican side.

The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) Agricultural Trade Office in Mexico City also participated with presentations from Jonn Slette, director, and Holly Higgins, agricultural minister-counselor. “We need to cross the bridge to strengthen our relationship between both countries. If there are no bridges, let´s build one,” Higgins said.

The two-day program began with welcome remarks from Brad Frisvold, Iowa marketing manager for agriculture, and Mike Naig, Iowa secretary of agriculture.
