Honduras market opens for shell egg exports

After more than a year of negotiations involving the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), and Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), the market of Honduras opened for shell egg exports as of Dec. 30, 2021.

The Honduran cold chain infrastructure is extremely limited, with refrigerated and frozen products usually stored in reefers, significantly increasing export costs. Despite these issues, certain Honduran supermarket chains continue to modernize their cooling and freezing equipment to accommodate perishable products.
