U.S. broiler and egg exports post notable gains in first quarter

May 10, 2021

U.S. broiler and egg exports for the first quarter of this year increased in both volume and value, according to new trade data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service.

China, Cuba, Angola, and the Philippines led the way, scoring tremendous gains in broiler exports from the same period a year ago. Broiler exports to Cuba and Philippines reached all-time highs in both volume and value, while exports to China set a record in value.

Meanwhile, strength in South Korea and Canada propelled egg exports. Egg exports to South Korea through March this year reached a record high in both volume and value due to the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreaks that have impacted Korea’s layer houses and caused a shortage in domestic supply.
