USAPEEC advises members on Mexican labeling regulations
October 19, 2020
USAPEEC members shipping to Mexico who hope to avoid potential complications at the border over labeling regulations for imported packaged food were offered some guidance this week during a special instructional seminar.
To avert problems brought on by a sudden, unexpected change in Mexican import label regulations, USAPEEC is advising members to place packaging labels from the place of origin on their products including so-called nutritional octagons, and also to hire the services of a Verification Unit (UVA) in order to obtain a compliance letter.
The suggestions were offered by representatives from Chaotic Green, a consulting firm that specializes in Mexican regulatory issues. They made a presentation on the situation and answered questions during a two-hour online session for members and their importers.
