U.S., China welcome AI regionalization pact
March 23, 2020
The U.S. and China this week announced that they have reached a much-anticipated agreement under which China will not impose any restrictions on U.S. poultry imports in the event of a detection of low pathogenic avian influenza.
China also will limit restrictions imposed in the case of a finding of high pathogenic avian influenza or of virulent Newcastle disease to the state level, rather than the countrywide level.
The agreement was signed by USDA on March 13 and by the General Administration of Customs China (GACC) Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on March 12 and is now active.
